At Matthews we know privacy is important. The MSV blood mobile is equipped with Health History Rooms for donor interviews. To ensure the safety of our blood supply, all volunteer blood donors must be evaluated to determine their eligibility to give blood. The final determination of eligibility to give blood is made on the day of donation at the blood drive by the blood collection staff. However, here are some general guidelines:
Be in good general health and feeling well
Be at least 17 years old in most states
Weigh at least 110 lbs.
Other areas of a donors health history are discussed as part of the donation process, and before blood is collected. Donors are given a brief examination, their temperature is taken, pulse is measured, blood pressure is measured and hemoglobin is measured.
At Matthews we want to ensure that we are equipping our blood centers with functional and comfortable equipment. We work to ensure that the donor is comfortable as well. Our private interview / health history rooms include a desk with steno chair, and bench seating. On our coach blood mobile duct forced fan air conditioning is included. Depending on the floor plan choose from a swing door or a pocket style door, with stationary windows with one way glass.
