That depends on several factors. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) website has a handy tool to help you determine whether you need a USDOT number for your vehicle.

Our team works to inform all our customers about each option so they are able to make the most qualified decisions for their new mobile unit. Your Matthews representative is available to offer insights on choosing the right chassis type for your specialty vehicle.

  • Gas chassis are a popular option as they typically have a lower entry-level pricing, and they often have gross vehicle weight ratings (GVWR) beneath the threshold for requiring a CDL to drive.

  • Diesel chassis are also popular because they typically have a longer useful life expectancy and can be ordered with higher GVWRs for heavy-duty builds.

Mobile clinics are powered in a variety of different ways. As a custom manufacturer, we work with each customer to understand their needs and create a power solution to meet those requirements. Solutions may include traditional generator power, green power such as solar panels and lithium batteries, and LP generators. Most mobile units include a generator (matched to the chassis fuel source) and a shore cord. Depending on the operational scenario, you can select between generator power and shore cord power. Curious about which power solution is best for you? Contact us!

Each of our vehicles is delivered with support from our in-house training staff, which offers up to a full day of training. We'll make sure you know how to operate the vehicle, as well as how to fully set up and take down the unit.
